Clinton High

27 Aug 1956, Clinton, Tennessee, USA --- 8/27/1956-Clinton, TN: John Carter, 17, a Clinton High School junior, carries sign outside the school here August 27th. protesting racial integration as the school opened its first session in which Negroes attended classes with white students. The demonstration was participated in by only a few of the school’s 750 students. Police and teachers herded the pupils into the school building, but carter and another student refused to enter the building with the Negroes.
