Margaret joined Teaching Tolerance as an intern and later became the Teaching Tolerance fellow. Sasser's work was integral to the development and maintenance of Perspectives for a Diverse America in her role as a research associate.

Maria is associate professor of education at Vassar College, where she coordinates the Adolescent Education Certification Program. Hantzopoulos' work has appeared in a variety of publications, such as Rethinking Schools, Journal of Peace Education and Anthropology and Education Quarterly. She is the author of Restoring Dignity in Public Schools: Human Rights Education in Action (Teachers College Press, 2016), and co-editor of the volumes Critical Small Schools: Beyond Privatization in New York City Urban Educational Reform (Information Age, 2012) and Peace Education: International Perspectives

Margarita Bauzá Wagerson is a freelance writer for Teaching Tolerance. She has 15 years of daily newspaper writing experience in Michigan, 10 of those in Detroit, where she wrote about education, transportation and jobs. She has been a staff writer at the Lansing State Journal, Grand Rapids Press, the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. A native of Puerto Rico, she is a graduate of Michigan State University and a former board member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Her freelance work focuses on education and health care.

Since 2011, Jill Davidson has worked as the Director of Publications and Communications at Educators for Social Responsibility, which collaborates with middle and high schools to provide professional development and resources grounded in the values of equity, community, and democracy. Before ESR, she worked for over a decade in a variety of roles at the Coalition of Essential Schools. Jill lives in Providence, RI. As the mother of three sons in public schools, she advocates for family-school involvement to support school success for all young people.

Cynthia Levinson writes nonfiction for young readers. Her debut middle-grade book, We’ve Got a Job: The 1963 Birmingham Children’s March, won numerous awards, including the Jane Addams Book Award and the IRA Young Adult Nonfiction Award. Her forthcoming book Watch Out for Flying Kids addresses multicultural issues in Israel and the United States through two children’s circuses. In addition, she is writing a biography of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her short nonfiction pieces have been published in Cobblestone, Faces, and other magazines. She lives in Austin and Boston.

Maren Aukerman is an assistant professor at Stanford University's School of Education. She is currently on the review board for Language Arts as well as for the Handbook of Research on Children’s and Young Adults’ Literature (Routledge, 2009). Her research focuses on the relationship between classroom discourse and reading comprehension, with emphasis on children’s talk surrounding literature and their talk about nonfiction texts.

Kim Blevins teaches high school English and journalism. She was awarded the 2011-2012 Missouri Secondary Educator of the Year by the Missouri State Teacher’s Association. Blevins is a Teacher-consultant with the Ozarks Writing Project, an affiliate of the National Writing Project. She earned her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from Missouri State University and her master’s degree in Education from Lindenwood University.
