Ann Van Etten teaches eighth-grade language arts in Iowa. She received a bachelor’s degree in English education with a minor in creative writing from the University of Northern Iowa, and a master’s in English education at the University of Iowa. She earned her National Board Certification in English language arts in 2010. Van Etten also teaches creative writing to middle school students at the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, a non-profit after school arts organization.

Melissa is a student-activist in New Jersey, focusing on a variety of education issues, such as student voice and high-stakes testing. She is in the integrated bachelor's and master of arts in teaching program in urban education at the College of New Jersey in Ewing, New Jersey. Melissa is also a coordinating committee member of the Young Teachers Collective.

Aimee Young teaches in rural Ohio. She has studied in Poland and Israel, was awarded a teaching fellowship through the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and earned the prestigious DisneyHAND American Teacher Award, given to just 38 teachers in the nation in 2004.

Susan has been teaching in public school settings for over 30 years. For the past 15 years, she has been a teacher/librarian for the Amherst Public Schools in Massachusetts. She has also taught preschool, kindergarten and first grade in schools in Minnesota and Massachusetts.

David McKay Wilson, a regular contributor to the Harvard Education Letter, in 2003 traveled to India to interview workers enslaved in bonded labor in the state of Tamil Nadu. .

Farrah T. Giroux specializes in ESL literacy and curriculum design. She is based in Maine.

Sonia Galaviz is a 5th grade elementary teacher in Boise, Idaho. She has taught in both the primary and intermediate grades and teaches as an adjunct faculty for University of Phoenix and Boise State University. In 2009 she received the honor of Idaho Woman of the Year from the Idaho Business Review. In 2011 Sonia was one of five educators in the nation chosen to receive an award in Excellence in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy from Teaching Tolerance. Sonia serves on the state board for the Idaho Education Association.

Raquel works as a teacher librarian in the elementary section of a private school in Bogotá, Colombia.

Jey is the program manager for school partnerships with Learning for Justice. They have previously worked as an elementary school special educator in Portland Public Schools in Oregon and as a writer. Jey is a contributing author in the book Gender Diversity and LGBTQ Inclusion and Advocacy in Schools.

Caitlin George is a high school English for speakers of other languages and journalism teacher in South Carolina. She earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish and a master’s degree in English education from the University of Georgia. She also has a specialist's degree in curriculum & instruction from Valdosta State University.
