Georgia Garcia is a professor of curriculum and instruction at the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on the literacy instruction of K-8 students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, with a special interest in bilingual students' reading skills. Alice Pettway is the author of four collections of poetry: Dawn Chorus (2023), Station Lights (2021), Moth (2019), and The Time of Hunger (2017). Her work, which spans poetry, non-fiction, and fiction, has appeared in AGNI, Learning for Justice magazine, Rattle, The Progressive, The Southern Review, The Threepenny Review and many other respected publications. Kate Shuster, Ph.D., is an education researcher and author based in Montgomery, Alabama. Her work as project director for Teaching Tolerance’s Teaching Hard History initiative has included the following: researching for and writing the widely cited report Teaching Hard History: American Slavery; leading a team of experts to write and revise a suite of innovative K–12 curricular resources; producing the Teaching Hard History podcast; and creating and managing partnerships with related interpretive centers and institutions. Meghan is a poet, novelist, essayist, science writer and librettist from Boston, Massachusetts. Her work has appeared in The Pitkin Review, The Wick Journal, Applied Sentience, The Harvard Divinity Bulletin and others. Her first novel, Light and Skin, was published by Empty City Press in 2010, and her second book, Kinesiophobia, is scheduled for release in 2017.

Dina Weinstein is a Miami-based journalist. She mentors young journalists as an adviser at the Miami Dade College student newspaper The Reporter. Weinstein has taught journalism and mass communications at a number of colleges including Miami Dade College. She is a Boston native and a graduate of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and Boston University School for the Arts.
