Ted Palenski is a teacher in a play-based kindergarten classroom in Connecticut. He graduated from Yale with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics in 2010. As an undergraduate working with 3-year-olds in a play-based early-learning environment, he became interested in early childhood education, in both center- and home-based settings.

John L. Adams received his Bachelor and Master of Arts in English, History and African-American Studies from the University of Wisconsin and his PhD. from Rutgers University.

Liz Ransom, M.A., teaches Spanish in Princeton, New Jersey. She spent three years as a volunteer in Chile and has been a consultant for the development of anti-racism curriculum.

Sheila Bedi leads the Southern Poverty Law Center’s efforts on behalf of children in Mississippi and Louisiana and provides strategic guidance on select campaigns in other states.

Francesina R. Jackson has worked as an administrator in teacher education programs. She has served as an evaluator with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Ric has 20 years experience in teaching history and social studies courses at high schools and colleges in northeast Ohio. He is especially interested in incorporating human rights into his teaching and has developed and taught a course entitled International Human Rights for many years. Follow his ideas here.

Cook has taught composition courses at Auburn University, where he also received his M.A. in English with a concentration in rhetoric and composition. He is passionate about intersectional activism and about having tough-but-necessary conversations to advance social justice. He considers love and compassion to be integral to his work and activism.

Fakhra, a San Francisco Bay Area native and high school teacher, teaches courses through the San Francisco Peer Resources Program at Mission High School. Shah works to educate and empower youth of diverse backgrounds to become critical thinkers who challenge systems of oppression and who take steps to create lasting institutional change. Over the past few years, Shah has developed curricula that challenge Islamophobia, racism and hate speech, seeking to further support marginalized students in her classes.

Dr. Ruth A. Wilson works as an educational consultant and curriculum writer. She has a doctorate in early childhood and elementary education and a master’s degree in special education. Dr. Wilson taught at the university level for over 14 years, including ten years at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Professionally, her primary areas of interest are early childhood environmental education and peace education. Much of her work focuses on the holistic development of children, with an emphasis on connections between body, mind, and spirit.

Kristan Taylor has been teaching for eight years. She currently serves as migrant education coordinator in Aubrey, Texas. She holds a Master of Arts in teaching English as a second language from the University of North Texas, Denton.
