Enslaved People at the Capitol

Enslaved men and children stand in chains in front of the U.S. Capitol. In the sky, two angelic figures appear. One is holding a staff with a liberty cap, or symbol of freedom, on the top. This etching was printed on a pamphlet promoting the end of slavery (abolition).
