Renee Poussaint’s interview with Constance Baker Motley discusses the latter’s experience at the March on Washington as well as the impact of everyday people in agitating for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Motley also emphasizes the importance of the act in the “reenactment” of civil rights protections and the federal government’s continued role in that process.
