Amanda Ryan Fear has served as an art teacher, leadership teacher, and dean of students at a large, comprehensive high school in the Portland, Oregon area. She is a doctoral candidate in education methodology, policy and leadership at the University of Oregon and works with preservice teachers on community building and equity issues in the classroom. Her professional interests include leadership for equity, student voice and college readiness. She recently became a mother and misses sleep.

Samantha has been a social studies teacher in New York City public schools since 2007. During this time, she has taught a wide range of history, art, health, research and writing courses to high school students. In 2013, she was the recipient of the Teachers Who Make a Difference Award from Scholarship Plus.

Nancy Barno Reynolds is a Doctoral Candidate in The Graduate School of Education at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y. and is planning to graduate in May. A former public school teacher for many years, her research now focuses on critical literacy, Democratic education, and the influence of the standardization movement on her profession.

Anne Savage is an Educational Resource Specialist at the Library of Congress, where she develops and delivers professional development, as well as creates classroom materials. Before coming to the Library, she was an elementary teacher and school-based technology specialist in Fairfax County, Virginia, and a programming manager of educational Web content at a large corporation.

Jonathan teaches seventh- and eighth-grade history at Moses Brown School, a Quaker school in Providence, Rhode Island. His classes focus on developing students’ historical thinking skills while inspiring them to consider issues of injustice and morality in the past and present. Eileen Mattingly has been a classroom teacher (middle school through college) in the Philippines, Massachusetts, New York and Maryland for over 30 years. She has a B.A. in International Studies from Georgetown University, M.A. degrees from St. John’s University and the Johns Hopkins University. Eileen has been a curriculum consultant for PBS, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Center for Learning. Jozette Martinez is a middle and high school business teacher in the heart of downtown Denver, Colorado, where she is an eighth-generation resident. She leads her eighth-grade AVID team and coaches her school’s Student Board of Education. She is also an adjunct professor in business and technology, a district trainer of teachers and a national teacher leader instructor through the Center for Teaching Quality, with a focus on social justice, equity and inclusion. She is a writer, guardian, sister, daughter and friend.

Alan L. Neville currently serves as an associate professor of education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. He usually teaches courses in human relations and South Dakota Indian Studies. Prior to his higher education experience, Neville worked in K-12 education as a teacher and high school principal. He is a veteran of the U.S Army.
