Ting-Yi Oei was a 1995-96 Teaching Tolerance Research Fellow. He teaches social studies at South Lakes High School, Reston, Va.

Chris teaches senior-level science in the same Rochester school district he attended as a student. At World of Inquiry School #58, he uses science instruction to empower his students, emphasizing the links between math, science and social justice. Widmaier holds multiple leadership roles at his school and is a founding member of the Rochester Regional Teacher Empowerment Network. He received the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2016.

A graduate of University of Michigan and Harvard Graduate School of Education, Debra Solomon Baker has been a middle school Language Arts educator for more than a decade. She has presented at national education conferences, most recently on the integration of technology in the English classroom. Marcy is a middle and high school Spanish teacher at Watkinson School in Hartford, Connecticut. During a seven-year hiatus from teaching she served as a college admissions counselor and earned her M.Ed. in curriculum. Beyond the campus, she delivers workshops at regional and national professional conferences, where she applies her training as a Critical Friendship coach and facilitator.

Noelle Walters teaches third grade at the Gordon School in East Providence, Rhode Island, where she has taught for the past nine years. She is also a cooperating teacher and adjunct faculty member for the Teacher Residency Program at the Gordon School and Roger Williams University, where she also coteaches a course on children’s multicultural literature.

Michelle McAfee, 1999-2000 Teaching Tolerance Research Fellow, has returned to her 2nd grade classroom at Park Day School, Oakland.

Rebecca VanderMeulen is a freelance writer in Exton, Pennsylvania. She is an M.Ed. candidate in School Counseling at West Chester University.
