Edna Brown is a veteran English Language Arts teacher, essayist, poet and social justice advocate residing in St. Louis. She began her career with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Maryville University and teaching adults with disabilities in one of the first community-based group homes in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Edna went on to study social work at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. Finally, she earned master’s degrees in both Secondary Education (Curriculum and Instruction) and English (Composition) from the University of Missouri, St. Louis

Carrie Craven currently works as an ELA paraprofessional and intervention specialist at a second-year charter school in Louisiana. She moved from Seattle as a Teach for America cohort in Louisiana. For three years she taught middle-school writing and language arts the New Orleans area. She earned an interdisciplinary degree in the Social Art of Language.

Kevin Baxter has been teaching for almost forty years. Though an Early Childhood specialist, Kevin has taught or coached students at every grade level from pre-school through high school, as well as Gifted Education. He currently works in Asheville N.C., substitute teaching, writing, and volunteer teaching for the Buncombe County Literacy Council.

Susan, an enrolled member of the Coharie Tribe of North Carolina, is a professor in the Educational Leadership Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Faircloth’s research interests include: Indigenous education, the education of culturally and linguistically diverse students with special educational needs, and the moral and ethical dimensions of school leadership.

Emily is an elementary school educator. She worked for 4 years with abused and neglected children in a residential setting before becoming a school counselor in the Brighton 27J school district, where she has been employed for the past seven years.

Pamela Cytrynbaum teaches writing and multimedia storytelling at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. At Brandeis University she taught in American Studies, served as associate director of the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism and director of the Justice Brandeis Innocence Project. She taught courses in writing and in New Media Communications in the English Department at Oregon State University. She writes for NBC Universal in Woman on the Verge and is a former staff writer for The Chicago Tribune and The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune. Her writing has also

Alan L. Neville currently serves as an associate professor of education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. He usually teaches courses in human relations and South Dakota Indian Studies. Prior to his higher education experience, Neville worked in K-12 education as a teacher and high school principal. He is a veteran of the U.S Army.
