LGBTQ Pride Month starts Saturday, and we're excited to honor it with some of our favorite resources! In this edition of The Moment, you'll find a history of the Stonewall Uprising that you can use to teach the fight for LGBTQ equality alongside other civil rights movements. We're also including our extensive guide for serving LGBTQ students. And we extend a heartfelt reminder that we see you standing up for your students every day—and we appreciate you.

In the Fall of 2017, we launched a new Educator Grants program to support projects that promote affirming school climates and educate youth to thrive in a diverse democracy. This edition of The Moment features creative grant-funded projects from educators like you who care about equity and culturally responsive teaching. You'll also find pointers on how to apply for your own grant. Stay tuned for more news about grants for projects supporting civic and democratic engagement!

Check out our new resources, including a lesson bank for teaching about voter suppression, PD for managing partisanship in your classroom, discussion guides for addressing current events and more! Educators in the Deep South can check out our grants supporting school-based voter registration. And educators nationwide can sign up for this week’s free webinar on registering student voters during this unprecedented election season!

We are celebrating Pride 2022 in the shadow of hundreds of anti-LGBTQ bills, anti-CRT legislation (prohibiting teaching about racism) and assaults on reproductive rights aimed at silencing and disenfranchising people—all coordinated efforts in a backlash against gains in social justice and equity. As we celebrate a legacy of courage, resilience and strength, let us commit to building coalitions of justice, to being allies to one another. We know from experience that freedom and justice require ongoing resistance, activism and solidarity.

The struggle for equality and justice for all women is not relegated to history; it is the lived experience of women today in the United States and around the world. Our newest resource page, published in recognition of Women’s History Month, offers a variety of articles, texts and other resources to help discuss and uplift both the history of and the ongoing struggle for women’s equality.
