Leslie Wills-Taylor

Leslie has been an elementary educator in central Virginia since 2008. As both a fourth-grade teacher and diversity resource teacher, she collaboratively designs and co-facilitates a variety of professional developments on multicultural education and culturally responsive instructional strategies. Wills-Taylor also organizes diversity awareness events that build sustainable home-school partnerships. She is one of the recipients of the 2016 Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Teaching. Henry Cody Miller

Henry “Cody” Miller is an assistant professor of English education at SUNY Brockport. During his seven years as a high school English teacher and in his current role, he positions texts as vehicles to discuss broader socio-political issues in students’ lives and worlds. He leads professional development focused on creating affirming classrooms for LBGTQ youth and supporting teachers in publishing blogs and articles. Cody currently acts as the chair of the National Council of Teachers of English LGBTQ advisory board. He was awarded the Teaching Tolerance Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2016

Bob Lewis

Bob is principal of Fox Road Magnet Elementary School, an IB World School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has served in a variety of roles during his long career, including special education director and consulting roles. Most of his career has focused on working with culturally diverse, at-risk and high-poverty populations. Lewis holds great passion for the mission of building successful learners and works as a workshop leader for the International Baccalaureate organization; he has also served as a consultant for this organization.

Alan L. Neville

Alan L. Neville currently serves as an associate professor of education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. He usually teaches courses in human relations and South Dakota Indian Studies. Prior to his higher education experience, Neville worked in K-12 education as a teacher and high school principal. He is a veteran of the U.S Army.

Marcy is a middle and high school Spanish teacher at Watkinson School in Hartford, Connecticut. During a seven-year hiatus from teaching she served as a college admissions counselor and earned her M.Ed. in curriculum. Beyond the campus, she delivers workshops at regional and national professional conferences, where she applies her training as a Critical Friendship coach and facilitator.

David O’Brien

David O’Brien’s scholarship and teaching focus on the literacy practices of adolescents. He has studied how adolescents use literacy to learn content across the disciplines and also how their teachers learn to integrate literacy practices into various disciplines in middle and high school instruction. His research is collaborative, conducted within a community of practice with the intent of improving adolescents’ literacy skills and practices concurrently with improving their teachers’ abilities to meet the needs of a range of learners. Lisa Glenn

Lisa Glenn graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in Psychology. While at college, she participated heavily in BSC's service-learning initiatives through service-learning coursework, local service activities, and month-long service trips. Lisa was awarded a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study in South Africa, where she taught 7th–9th grade technology and also earned a B.Ed. Honours degree in Human Rights Education at University of the Witwatersrand. After returning from South Africa, Lisa left her home in the South and moved West, where she taught 6th grade in Phoenix
