Amanda Ryan Fear has served as an art teacher, leadership teacher, and dean of students at a large, comprehensive high school in the Portland, Oregon area. She is a doctoral candidate in education methodology, policy and leadership at the University of Oregon and works with preservice teachers on community building and equity issues in the classroom. Her professional interests include leadership for equity, student voice and college readiness. She recently became a mother and misses sleep.

Karen is a second-grade master teacher at Aspire Monarch Academy in Oakland, California. In addition to teaching, Schreiner is a mentor teacher with the Aspire Teacher Residency Program, coaching and co-teaching with a resident teacher. She is a culture lead teacher at Monarch, working with the Culture Leadership Team to improve school culture and climate. Sherry has been an educator for 39 years and currently serves as the student support leader at Iles School in Springfield, Illinois. Frachey became passionate about stress reduction and restorative justice practices in schools and now partners with the Memorial Medical Center Foundation and the Harvard School of Medicine’s Benson-Henry Mind/Body Institute to teach The Relaxation Response, a stress-reduction program that uses developmentally appropriate exercises for school-age children. Joe is a middle school teacher with ten years experience working in a small progressive public school in Hoboken, NJ.

Edna Brown is a veteran English Language Arts teacher, essayist, poet and social justice advocate residing in St. Louis. She began her career with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Maryville University and teaching adults with disabilities in one of the first community-based group homes in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Edna went on to study social work at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. Finally, she earned master’s degrees in both Secondary Education (Curriculum and Instruction) and English (Composition) from the University of Missouri, St. Louis

Carrie Craven currently works as an ELA paraprofessional and intervention specialist at a second-year charter school in Louisiana. She moved from Seattle as a Teach for America cohort in Louisiana. For three years she taught middle-school writing and language arts the New Orleans area. She earned an interdisciplinary degree in the Social Art of Language.
