Many people in United States hold the mistaken belief that LGBTQ people and Muslims are fundamentally at odds. As educators, we can teach the reality that LGBTQ Muslims exist and honor the voices of this identity group.
This toolkit for the feature story “Ask Angy” links to videos created by activist Angy Rivera in association with her advice column for undocumented youth, “Ask Angy.” The videos and prompts will spark students’ thinking about the issues that affect undocumented youth living in the United States.
Challenges to school names that no longer represent community values are being heard throughout the South. In this toolkit, students will consider the complexities of naming and name changes and explore a strategy for convincing decision-makers that such changes are needed.
